Hello everyone,

On December 22nd, 2020, I received my first dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine. Over the past few months, I've been a test patient for the AstraZeneca global vaccine trials.

It all started in September 2020 when I was sent an invitation by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. A researcher from the Department of Anesthesiology was looking for participants for their investigational vaccine study.

My Favorite Things This Week

Recently I read "The Perks of Niche Fame" by David Perell. This article focuses on niche fame, and contrasts it with "celebrity fame." Celebrity fame is the common notion of stardom; you have a lot of fans and media attention, but you also aren't able to live a normal life. Celebrities often have to have bodyguards to protect them from the public. However, niche fame provides all the benefits of celebrity fame with none of the drawbacks.

A few days ago I listened to Ryan Holiday's interview with Ramit Sethi. Sethi is an expert on personal finance and investing. In this conversation, they discuss the media, the stock market, and how to save money without feeling frugal.

This week, I listened to "Deliberate Practice," a podcast episode by Thomas Frank. In this episode, they discuss practicing and how to get better at any specific skill. If you play an instrument or want to get better at learning, you should listen to this.
